I opened Tabledit and minimised it out of the way but to no avail. I'd like to say that your extensive answer solved my problem but, unfortunately, I can't even see Tabledit under Applications in the Mixer box! Whenever TablEdit has mysteriously gone silent for me, this has restored the sound.

If you have Windows XP, it's a similar procedure, but in this case, you don't get sounds on a per-application basis: you click on the speaker icon, bring up the volume control dialog box, and make sure that WAV and SW Synth sounds are both turned on. Make sure it's not muted (red circle through the speaker) and that the volume slider is not set to zero (move it up to about 50%). In the Volume Mixer box, move the slider at the bottom of "Applications" over until you see TablEdit. Then click on the word "Mixer" at the bottom. If you have Windows 8, go to the Desktop (not Tile World!) and click on the speaker icon on the bottom right, and LEFT-click on the speaker icon to bring up the slider. Then, if you have Windows 7, RIGHT-click on the speaker icon on the bottom right of the main screen and select Volume Control Options. Then minimize it to get it out of the way. It depends what version of Windows you're running, though.įirst, launch TablEdit so that's it's running.
Changing that setting would still allow you to hear "normal" audio, say, on YouTube and other websites, but it would mute any sounds produced by TablEdit. It's possible that something (don't waste time trying to figure out what - could have been a website!) turned off the synthesizer sound that TablEdit uses.
